St Catherine’s Seeds are among one of the first seed companies to have an invitation from Germinal to gather a group of farmers to attend their new grassland research centre near Melksham, Wiltshire.
A group of 12 local farmers spent an hour or so in the classroom, initially to learn about Germinal and what they are focusing on currently before heading out to view the trial plots with the scientists working at the centre.
- We viewed plots of:
- Perennial Ryegrass
- Red and White Clovers
- Multi–Species Mixtures
- Legumes
Each plot was clearly defined as to the experiments taking place.
Back in the classroom afterwards to conclude with a spot of lunch and a question and answer session from the farmers attending on a wide range of topics including spring/autumn re-seeds and best practice and lengthy talks on the latest Red clover developments.
